A Thank You to the Central Okanagan Foundation Supporting Next Steps and Community Care Programs

It is with much gratitude that we say “thank you” to the Central Okanagan Foundation (www.centralokanaganfoundation.org) for its generous contribution of a multi-year operational grant towards our Next Steps and Community Care Program.
The Next Steps program is a person-centred, strength-based, and collaborative program that transitions vulnerable male clients into education, employment, and permanent housing opportunities. Launched in September 2018, the program’s goal is to offer new steps and education, helping participants leave their lives of addiction, maintain their recovery, and work toward education and employment within the community. It also fosters a deeper understanding of what it takes to live a healthier life after years of struggling with addiction.
The work done in Next Steps is a unique process, focused on each individual’s needs. Some clients require help with basics, such as obtaining their BCID, birth certificates, etc., while others may need more complex support, such as resume writing.
Our Next Steps program has been operating for the past seven years. Over this time, we have served 682 clients, 102 of whom have accessed our Community Care program, where they can live independently while still benefiting from the services offered at Freedom’s Door.
